THE CHALLENGE
Schools need a practical way to manage wastewater while supporting gardens, local water resources and a healthy learning environment. Each site has different space, infrastructure and operating constraints. Implementation must also fit around school activities and safe access for students and staff.
THE APPROACH
The program combines decentralized wastewater treatment with constructed wetlands and planned reuse for school gardens. Rooftop rainwater harvesting complements the wastewater system and supports groundwater recharge. Designs and site work are coordinated with the schools and relevant public agencies.
SIV’S ROLE
SIV Impact coordinates program planning, technical delivery, local implementation and engagement with schools and public agencies. The program links infrastructure delivery with arrangements for ongoing care and performance monitoring.
INTENDED VALUE
The program aims to make wastewater management useful to the school landscape, support local water security and establish a practical model for ongoing maintenance. The planned reach is 15 schools; this is not a count of completed installations.

The monitoring approach combines monthly flow tracking, quarterly water-quality testing and annual verification. Program reporting will distinguish the number of schools in scope, commissioned systems and measured water benefits. Final impact results are being developed.
